If you’re in the market for a new carry-on suitcase that blends high-end functionality with a touch of style, the Level8 Luminous Textured Carry-on 20” might just be what you’re looking for.
The Luminous Textured Carry-on 20” model comes in a number of fun colours, and I went for Olivine (olive green).
This carry-on is one of Level8’s most popular styles, thanks to its diamond texture – not only does it catch the eye, but it also helps prevent scratches. It’s perfect for 2-4 day trips, but if you’re a light packer, you could totally stretch it to cover a full week’s travel.
The suitcase came nicely packed and protected with a dust bag, which comes handy to protect your cases while they’re in storage.

The Luminous Textured Carry-on really stands out with its sleek look. It grabbed my attention as soon as I unpacked it and I love its minimalist and modern look.
It is made with a polycarbonate hard shell tough enough to handle the roughness of travel, and comes with a nice slick aluminum alloy handle.
Anti-scratch surface
The special diamond texture of the Luminous Textured luggage is an anti-scratch surface that will keep your case in top shape. We all know that airlines don’t always treat luggage in the gentlest of ways!
Telescopic handle
The 3-step aluminum telescopic handles are sturdy yet light, and they make the handling of the Luminous Textured case a smooth affair.
With regular cases, sometimes handles swing so much that it’s hard to push your case if the surface is not the smoothest. Level8’s handles have a swing of less than 1 cm which helps your case glide easily.
360º spinner wheels
This is probably my favorite feature in the Luminous Textured Luggage aside from its look. The 360º spinner wheels have an anti-shock system that feel incredibly smooth and they are completely silent. It’s so light it glides on its own on all sorts of surfaces.
TSA-approved lock
Conveniently, the TSA-approved combination lock is built right into the suitcase. I’ve lost my fair share of padlocks on other bags before, so with this built-in feature, there’s no more rummaging through your hotel room trying to find where you put the lock!
Interior lining
The inside of the suitcase has two main compartments that are fully lined. Both compartments have zipper covers that keep your things tidy and in place without squishing them like regular straps do.
Size options
The Luminous Textured style comes in four different sizes – 18”, 20”, 24” and 28”. I went for the 20” one as I felt it is the perfect size for a short break.

Things to consider before buying Level8 Luminous Textured Carry-on 20”
One thing to keep in mind with Level8 is that this case might not always be the best fit for budget airlines, which can be a bit of a bummer if you’re hopping around with European carriers like Ryanair.
The dimensions of Level8 Luminous Textured 20″ dimensions are 37 x 23.5 x 54.5cm, which works for Ryanair in terms of height and width, but it’s just a bit too deep. And anyone who’s flown Ryanair knows they’re pretty keen on catching out any bags that stretch their limits.
That said, if you’re more often flying with national carriers like British Airways, you’ll find the dimensions are spot on.
If you are not sure about the size restrictions for your flight, Level8 has a really handy guide listing luggage dimensions for various airlines, which can save you a headache at the check-in counter.
Another thing to consider is the lack of an internal compression system. While I don’t personally think this is a drawback, some people may prefer to squeeze things in a bit more tightly.
And another final drawback could be the absence of external pockets. This can make it tricky to quickly grab travel must-haves like your passport, snacks, or headphones.
You’d need to unzip the main compartment each time you want something, which isn’t ideal in cramped spaces like airplane aisles or during busy airport rushes. This, however, can be avoided by having your essentials packed in your personal bag.
Level8 Voyageur Check-in 28”
The Voyageur Collection is the latest and greatest from Level8, and it’s one of the beefiest carry-ons they offer.
It comes in four different colors, but if you want to stand out, check out the Celadon or the Yellow-Black versions – they both have a cool color split that really makes it pop. Although I went for the Navy version, as the Celadon was not available in the UK at the time.
The Voyageur Check-in 28” came about because customers were asking for more room inside their bags. That’s why it has a unique wide handle, which not only gives you extra packing space but also makes the bag a lot easier to handle while you’re on the move.
The Voyageur Check-in 28” is incredibly spacious so it’s ideal for longer trips or for those people who are not very good at packing light, like me sometimes.
And like all Level8 luggage, it came nicely packed and protected with a dust bag, which comes handy to keep your cases in good condition while they’re in storage.

It features a uniquely wide handle that not only maximizes your packing space but also simplifies maneuvering the bag when you’re zipping through crowds and airport terminals. This smooth aluminum alloy handle feels as good as it looks.
360º spinner wheels
This is probably my favorite feature in both Level8 suitcases I have, aside from their looks. The 360º spinner wheels are equipped with an anti-shock system that makes them incredibly smooth and totally silent.
They’re so lightweight, the suitcase almost seems to glide by itself over any type of surface, including carpets!
Easy handling
With three grip handles positioned in different spots on the suitcase, it’s always easy to find a way to handle the Voyageur Check-in.
All the handles are located in very convenient spots – one on the side, one on top and one on the front of the case, which makes a whole big difference when lifting the case on and off the car or the carousel at the airport.
TSA-approved lock
The Voyageur Check-in comes with a built-in TSA-approved combination lock, which is super handy. The lock is conveniently positioned on the side of the suitcase.
Internal organization

The Level8 Voyageur Check-in luggage offers some great features, but like all products, it has its drawbacks. Here’s a summary of things you might want to consider:
