Epic things to do in the Jeseníky Mountains
Go chasing waterfalls on the Bílá Opava trail

The Bílá Opava trail follows the Opava River along the most beautiful valley in the Jeseníky Mountains, all the way to the top of Mount Praděd.
This relatively demanding hike starts in the spa town of Karlova Studánka and runs through a lush deep valley.
Along the way you come across plenty of natural weirs, waterfalls, cascades and pools, and you navigate your way around them over wooden footbridges and ladders. You’ll even need chains to climb the upper part of the trail over a rocky gorge.

When you reach the summit of Praděd, the highest peak in the Jeseníky Mountains, you will be rewarded with some incredible views with layers and layers of mountains as far as the eye can see.
Spend the night in a television transmitter

The Bílá Opava trail ends at the summit of Praděd, where there is a television transmitter tower which doubles up as a hotel, so staying here is a great way to end a day of hiking.
Being at 1,491.5m above sea level, and the tower itself being 146.5m high, it is the highest building in the Czech Republic.
The summit itself has incredible views over the Jeseníky Mountains, but from the observation deck of the tower you can see the High Tatras and even the Alps on a clear day!

By staying at Praděd Hotel, you get to enjoy a truly spectacular sunset and, if you’re an early bird, a gorgeous sunrise.

Go mountain biking in Bikepark Kopřivná

Surrounded by beautiful forests, Mountain Resort Kopřivná has plenty of fun activities for anyone looking to get their adrenaline pumping.
When the snow melts in spring, Bikepark Kopřivná becomes the Jeseníky Mountains playground par excellence with mountain biking at its heart.
There are six tracks for different abilities to choose from, from family-friendly and beginner tracks to technically challenging trails, so there’s something for everyone.
One thing that stood out for me is that the Bikepark team will help you find the right bike for your size and strength, so if you are petite like me, don’t worry, they have the right bike for you.

Once you rent your bike, you take it up in the chair lift with you to the top of the mountain – you’ll get help mounting and dismounting the bikes – to set off on the trails through the forest. Whichever trail you choose, it’ll be an exhilarating adventure!
Ride a buggy down the slopes of the Jeseníky Mountains
Also located in the Koprivna FunPark, but this time, you don’t have to take the buggies up to the top of the mountain. They’ll already be up there waiting for you. So jump on the chair lift and head to the summit!

It may look easy, but I wouldn’t be fooled by that. The ride down feels a bit hairier than it looks. With you being so close to the ground, the feeling of speed is intensified… as are the bumps on the track!
You take the track down the mountain, but if you are feeling a bit less adventurous, you can still ride your buggy down the paved road through the forest.
Whatever option you choose, you’re guaranteed to get that adrenaline going!
Go boating and wild swimming in Slezská Harta reservoir

Located on the Moravice River, Slezská Harta was built between the late 80s and late 90s, making it the Czech Republic’s newest water reservoir and dam.
In order to create the dam, six villages were destroyed and flooded and they were relocated along the edge of the water.

Here you can rent a paddle boat for a couple of hours and explore this beautiful place from the water. It’s a truly idyllic spot, and perfect for a hot day. So while you’re at it, why not jump in the water for a bit of wild swimming?
Zoom down on the longest downhill ride on a scooter
If you are looking to enjoy the Jeseníky Mountains from a unique perspective, why not do it at full speed while descending the longest downhill ride in a scooter in the Czech Republic?

Mountain scooters are popular here, so this is a must do for adventure lovers.
This scenic ride is 17kms long and it starts at the spectacular Dlouhé Stráně hydro power plant, located 1,350m above sea level. It takes you on the road all the way down to the valley.
It’s incredibly fun and the ride has some breathtaking views, but take care when zooming down, as these scooters pick up speed really quickly. Also, watch out for people and other traffic on the road!

You can rent the scooters from the Helia Sport Shop on Koutecké Náměstí or directly at the power plant.
Marvel at the ingenuity of Dlouhé Stráně hydro power plant
This is not really an adventurous thing to do, but before you set off on your scooter ride, I’d recommend spending some time at the top admiring this feat of engineering.

Dlouhé Stráně hydro power plant is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the Jeseníky Mountains. And you may be wondering why a man-made reservoir is so popular.
First of all, it was built at 1,350m above sea level, so the location is spectacular.
But what makes this power plant unique is that during the day water flows down to the power stations and charges the turbines, but when water consumption is lower at night, water is pumped back to the reservoir. Pretty clever, huh?
Where to stay in the Jeseníky Mountains
Aside from Praděd Hotel within the television transmitter tower and its spectacular location, there are plenty of places to stay in the Jeseníky Mountains. Here are a few of the best:

Hi! Jeseniky are my favorite mountains. I go there often because I live close (in Poland) and I know many nice places in Jeseníky like the ruins of Koberstein Castle. It is located 10 km north of Praded Mountain. If you will be in Poland, I recommend you the mountains of the Pieniny National Park and the Dunajec River (it is close to the Tatra Mountains) Kind regards! Kamil from Poland
